245 - What's the first thing you remember?

I remember Dee. I remember her making a promise.

"It's okay. I'll be here when you wake up. I'll be right here."

Really, I only half-remember that. It was like the very last thing that happens in your dream, just before you start to actually wake up, an echo of whatever it was that was on your mind when your conscious thoughts aren't around to filter and rationalize and compensate. I remember her promising to be there when I woke up.

246 - What are the five steps to a successful negotiation?

Somewhere in the universe, four men sit down at a conference table to discuss the elements of a successful negotiation. Although the members of this unusual group come to the table from widely disparate backgrounds and even realities, they also have a great deal in common. Each man is a leader of others, and has been involved in more than one occasion requiring keen negotiation skills. Four men with unique opinions, strong moral compasses and extensive experiences, they enter the discussion feeling confident in their ability to form an effective response to the question.

Name a hand full of people you RP with, read, or have heard of. Say something positive, a reason why you like their characters, or the players. Anything that is constructive, positive, and better than the general: <3!!

Ahh, is it time for some love-spreading?

First off, thank you to any and all who've mentioned me or mine in their versions of this meme. I've encountered so many wonderful writers and some truly awesome people through these characters, and I sincerely appreciate every word you've said.

My list under here )

9.C.5. - "Life is a series of collisions with the future; it is not the sum of what we have been, but what we yearn to be." - Jose Ortega y Gasset

Lee Adama doesn't know who he is; more importantly, Lee Adama doesn't know who he wants to be.

Believe me, I've been hearing those criticisms my entire life. And frankly, there are all kinds of reasons that any decent head shrinker would assign to my particular personality flaws, and don't think I haven't been tempted to actually talk to one. I know I'm frakked up sometimes, and it's not like the Gods don't mind reminding me.

Captain. Lieutenant. Captain again. Major. Commander. Major again. Civilian. Attorney. Delegate. President.

I haven't missed it. I've been wandering, looking for an anchor point, trying to find the one thing or one person around which I can start to really define myself and my life, the way the human fleet has been wandering, trying to find Earth, someplace to call our own again so that we can start rebuilding a civilization.

But what have I found?

It's not duty. No matter how good a pilot I might have been, no matter how good a CAG or XO or even CO I might or might not have been, it got clearer to me with each passing day that I wasn't destined to wear a uniform forever. And it isn't Kara. There's a love there that can't really be explained, but it's not something you make a life out of. It isn't Dee, although it probably should have been.

[private]

And then there's Sharon. It can't be Sharon. There's more than frakking going on here, I'm not stupid enough to not realize it. But I don't know what it is, and that can't be. I think I might finally be closing in on a life I can call my own, and I can't let it fall out of control. Even if, around her, that's what I want to be.

242 - Write about a time that you were the bearer of bad news.

"Your father's waiting for you in his study."

When I was a kid, those were the most chilling words ever spoken, and my mother always delivered them with the kind of heavy portent that usually accompanies Oracular pronouncements and eulogies. I couldn't stand hearing those words any more than I could stand the long walk across the room from the door to the huge and heavy wood desk. My father would take off his glasses, set them down, fold his hands and wait.

Hey, all. Just a note to let people know that due to a temporary increase in work duties (read: the other technician is gone for a couple of weeks on vacation/training), my effective online time will be greatly reduced, so my active muses are going on hiatus for at least that period of time. Thanks.

Cross-posted to my other muse journals, so apologies for repeats.

arrow_of_apollo: (OOC | Spoilers Make Lee Angry)
Heya. Well, how about that "finale", huh? In thinking about the events of them (as some of you know), I came to the conclusion that I was not interested in spending the next six months or more (NEXT YEAR, PEOPLE) between now and the "second half" of season 4 with my boy Lee in a state of perpetual WTF.

With that in mind, and following in the footsteps of my partner in crime, he'll be freezing right in the middle of "Revelations", episode 4x10. That means:

1) Although Roslin and Adama have returned, Lee is still acting President
2) The treaty/partnership with the Cylons has been established, but they have yet to Jump to Earth
Etc, etc.

This freeze only affects RP and conversations. It does not include challenge community prompt responses, which will include any and all canon material up through and including the very end of "Revelations". It also does not include the storylines of [livejournal.com profile] bsg_tng, since it has fixed storylines not affected by the events of the last four episodes.

I know there are a few of my fellow BSG writers who might also pause their pups, but obviously, I'm not "requiring" anybody to follow suit, just letting anyone who talks to Lee know, and politely requesting that if possible, in responses, that those events not be mentioned. The poor man is usually confused enough. *LOL*

Thanks!

Thanks

230 - Black and white

I can't tell you how many times I watched it. Fifty? Way too few. Five hundred? Maybe not that many. Maybe so.

I asked one of my flight instructors once why gun camera footage was always in black and white. He said something about recording and file compression, and things you can see well in contrast. I just always thought it would be better, if you're trying to figure out what happened during a fight or review your flying, to be able to see the scene as it actually happened.

Now I'm damn glad I couldn't.

228 - Three A.M.

There's not a lot of places to go on a battlestar when you can't sleep, especially when it's just before some big, important mission. I found myself on the flight deck, staring at the fighter craft I would be strapping into just a few hours from then, going on what on paper looked like a suicide mission. It involved a dozen kinds of risks, and relied on good luck way more than any War College professor would have allowed.

But then, it was Kara's plan.

225 - "Do not the most moving moments of our lives find us without words?" - Marcel Marceau

"Frak! Krypter, krypter, krypter! I've been hit, ejecting!"

Not exactly the kind of famous last words they etch into the marble base under your statue, are they? But they were mine, at least technically, since my heart and respiration did stop there for a couple of seconds. So those were, officially (and I've looked at the comm transcripts) my last words before being clinically dead for approximately twenty-three seconds. Granted, I was in a leaking flight suit with a dwindling oxygen supply, so talking wouldn't have been the best idea, but still... that's all I had to say.

"You've got to be kidding me." Lee all but gaped back at his father. The weekly meeting between the CO's of the only two existing human battlestars had started out just as it had over the last few weeks since the presidential election. With the entire fleet in parking orbit around New Caprica, it wasn't as if there was a lot to discuss other than fuel supplies and resignation letters. But these new orders had thrown the younger Adama for a loop.

222 - Sleeping on the couch

There's nothing noisier than a drunk person trying to be quiet, and when almost everything in your bedroom is made of metal, it's twice as bad. That was the lesson I learned, at least temporarily, one night during my extended and embarrassingly public stumbling drunk phase.
