Dear Dee,
I got this from one of the new Marine recruits that started their service last week. Apparently, he'd snapped it just before the groundbreaking ceremony on New Caprica and just hadn't had the opportunity to give it to us since. I figure that since we don't actually have an official wedding photo, this one does all right.

Not too bad, huh? I'm especially glad that it's before I discovered just how much better the kitchens on Pegasus were than what we had to live with (and, I guess, what we're living with now) onboard Galactica. You, of course, look gorgeous like I always think you do.
But when I look at this picture, and in particular, when I look at you in it, how beautiful you are isn't the first thing I think of. What strikes me first is how... just how right you look in the blues. And no, I'm not talking about whether or not they flatter your figure (they do), or whether or not blue is your color. I mean that I'm proud of you.
I know I said that I was proud to serve with you and be your husband, but all that aside? I'm just proud of you. Of all the commissions we handed out in those first couple of months, there was only one no-brainer as far as my father and I were concerned, and that was yours. I can't think of another Colonial soldier who exemplifies everything an officer is meant to be: tough and determined, but understanding and sensitive at the same time.
Did you know that when Caprica first organized its military, its soldiers were all officially referred to as "Warriors"? Which I guess makes us the modern Colonial Warriors, I guess. There was a quotation in one of my grandfather's books that has always stuck with me: "A true warrior prays for peace." What with my father being such a war hero and all, I never really understood it.
Now I do. Because I see that in you.
Just... I guess I just wanted to say that.
Love you, Dee. I'll be off-shift in time for dinner with my father and President Roslin. I told you about that, right?
Love,
Lee
