So, every now and then I'll trot out this idea just to get a handle on my character and what's in their head. Give it a shot, if you like, as sometimes it does get ideas sparking.
My Apollo...
...became a pilot because of his father
...later went Reserve because he didn't know if it was what he wanted
...actually likes being a pilot, and is really quite good at it
...crushed on Roslin in a platonic way in the beginning, and dug her calling him "Captain Apollo", but now just respects her
...was never more comfortable with himself and his place in the world than when commanding Pegasus, because he had a set, defined role
...sees choices as the right thing to do vs. the wrong thing to do, but is very flexible with what those things are at any given time
...tries to view situations looking for the simplest, most straightforward answer, and does not deal with gray areas well, especially morally
...loves his father dearly, respects and trusts him implicitly, but still feels as if he'll never really be out of William Adama's shadow
...isn't especially religious and doesn't really believe in Earth
...doesn't really make friends with equal or superior officers and prefers the company of (and respect of) junior officers
...honestly loves Dee, is at least a little in love with her if not more, and under other circumstances would probably be a great husband
...married Dee less out of spite for Kara and more out of a need for someone to make him feel loved and wanted and valued
...loves Kara as his very best friend and sister, and is in love with her in a way that's more a concept or idea rather than a realistic expectation
...persists in believing that he can save Kara from herself, but has no idea why she does what she does, and doesn't ask
...was willing to eradicate the Cylons because it's war, and it was an effective and necessary tactic to ensure humanity's safety, not out of anger or revenge
...hates himself for abandoning Gianne and "failing" with Shevon
...was willing to die in space because the world had gotten too complicated and messy and just wanted it to be calm and steady (relatively)
...didn't sleep with Kara after the Dance-- wanted to, but couldn't bring himself to
...really didn't recognize how fat, physically and psychically, he'd gotten during the Lost Year until Dee and Bill started kicking his ass about it
...is secretly happiest when he's in the kitchen cooking (because I embrace Jamie Bamber's story that it's in the original character bio)
