Lee shook his head, realizing that it made sense for Sharon Agathon to be there, holding Dee's boxes. From what he'd come to understand, the two women were friends, and that Dee had even taken to babysitting the Agathons' daughter, Hera. A pang shot through Lee's chest, making him wince, as he thought of Dee playing with the little girl. If I'd been a better husband... Lee cut off the thought there, as he'd been having hundreds of them since learning about Dee, and every one of them hurt like hell.
"Come on in," he told Sharon, waving her into the cabin and taking the box she offered. "And thank you," Lee added, out of reflex.
He looked back at Sharon, considering her question and offered her a pained, crooked smile.
"Anything you can do to make me forget? Dee, Earth, the truce, the whole frakking thing?"
That sounded pretty good to Lee. Numbness. Nothingness, forgetting.
